Star of Siam

Normally when we see a Thai restaurant that looks like this our first instinct is to run. Run far far away and hide. In fact, that's what we've doing since we first saw this place a long time ago. Today we were feeling lucky though so we gave it a try.

The inside was not quite as scary as the outside. The outside screams "we have thai food here" but it trys a little too hard and makes you wonder what kind of creepy thai food they really have in there. Once inside though you are welcomed by a slightly more thai-ish environment with the required pictures of the king on the wall. The whole place kinda reminds me of Little Thailand in austin although a little less trailer park. The menu seemed pretty authentic too with the standard thai fare and also some other dishes we don't usually see. They even stole our idea of a Thai-mex restaurant by including one supposed Thai-mex entree. We didn't get to try it though... maybe some other time.

We got pork & peanut samosa as an appetizer. Nik got Beef and Beef Balls with Rice Noodles. Steve got a curry and I got the Nam Sod.

the chan poo place

We went to Thai Soon again today. It never gets old but we don't feel like we need to take pictures here anymore because everything still looks the same. I got chan poo with tofu again. Thai noodles are great for lunch when you have a bike ride to do in the evening. Nik got a tasty looking fried rice and Daryl got the special, spicy noodles with minced chicken. They already had spicy noodles with minced chicken on the menu but I guess this was slightly different? Daryl thought it should be more saucey but the owner (I think?) said it was in an authentic thai style.

If only we had one of these to complete our asian experience.

Pappadeaux

We met Matt for lunch at this this cajun place. This could be matt's last week as part of the lunch crew! He might have a new job in oklahoma where they haven't even invented lunch yet, the savages! I loved my food, i've always loved this place but daryl has never been a fan of the place and probably never will. If matt starts working in oklahoma i'll never get to go to pappadeax for lunch ever again. We'll probably go to that thai soon place daryl loves everyday now!! Thanks a lot, matt!

This Week in a Snapshot

Here it is Monday again and we've missed a whole week of lunch entries. Slackers we are, every one.

Tuesday: Tin Star
This is always a tastey stop. Its been described as Yuppy American Mexican. Yuppy or not it is good. The only thing mexican about it is that the contents are wrapped in a tortilla. I like the BBQ pulled pork taco the best.

Wednesday: String Bean
Good ol American fare. This diner is a secret that even most locals don't know about. I had the always favorite Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich.

Thursday: Cheddars
Popular eating destination. Good food, cheap prices, and something for everyone. I enjoyed the Hawaiian salad.

Friday: Fogo de Chao
This is the mother of all that is good and delicious when it comes to restaurants. All the mouth watering meaty goodness one can eat. They come around with 15 different delectable cuts of fire-roasted meats, a sumptuous buffet of gourmet salads and fresh-cut vegetables, and a variety of Brazilian side dishes which inlude our favorites of fried bananas and cheese rolls.
